Parenting Workshops

“Parents don't come full bloom at the birth of the first baby. In fact parenting is about growing. It's about our own growing as much as it is about our children's growing and that kind of growing happens little by little.”

— Mr. Fred Rogers

Let us help you extend your supports to the family.

Working with, and supporting children also includes supporting their parents, caregivers, or families, however one person or site cannot always do it all. That’s why we’re here to help. We specialize in children and families and have an extensive background and a wealth of knowledge in child development, mental health, and parenting that can help extend your supports to your children’s families.

What are Parenting Workshops?

A parent workshop is an educational session that engages parents or caregivers with skills, knowledge, and strategies to better support their child. Our workshops include a 1 hour presentation (either over zoom or in person at your site) on a specific topic of your choice by a licensed clinical mental health professional and child development specialist in the field. Presentations include informational handouts, videos to support understanding, facilitated guided practice opportunities, as well as supplemental resources such as book recommendations.

Why should my site offer Parenting Workshops?

If you’re a preschool, or a site that works with children, it is essential to include their parents, caregivers, and families, but that isn’t always easy. As a school, or site, your primary focus is educating the child and resources may limit your interaction with families. Caregivers are busy and can rarely meet or update teachers. As an extension of your support, add or offer Parenting Workshops or presentations that are facilitated by an expert in mental health and child development specialist.

How are Parenting Workshops helpful?

Parenting workshops help families learn and understand specific child or parenting topics that they may otherwise need support with. It gives families extra tools and insight to help them connect better with each other as well as to adapt and grow together. Sites, schools, or child care facilities that offer Parenting Workshops help their families feel connected, supported, and cared about.

We are licensed clinical mental health professionals with a specialization in child development. We hold a dual degree from Erikson Institute, which has been quoted as the “Harvard of Child Development,” so we take child development seriously. We are trained in milieu therapy, which helps create a safe, well-rounded, and meaningful space. Unlike other workshops, our groups are play-based, flexible, and take your family’s specific needs in mind. Topics should be focused on what your family’s needs are currently.

We not only specialize in child development and parenting, but we are parents ourselves. We can not only empathize with families but educators and your support team as well. We take a holistic and relational approach to both our workshops and professional relationship with you.
